Our Mihimihi

We have been preparing our own mihimihi to share with the class. To do this we have been learning some painting techniques such as blending warm and cool colours and doing scraffito. It's been fun so far. Here are some photos to show you our work.

Bush Walk Photos

Here are some photos from our bush walk.

The Bush Walk

Our main focus is native birds of New Zealand. When our class went on the bushwalk we saw beautiful birds, plants and a stream. On the bushwalk we heard all different types of birds like the Fantail, the Tui and many others. The Fantail came fluttering past like a beautiful, little butterfly. We also saw a Bell-Bird land on a fern frond beside us. It had beautiful colours all over it. The Tui that was up in the branch above us had a black beak, white wavy feathers on the back of the neck, white tufts and head and the rest of the body was dark blue-green. The fantail is a little bird. They follow you if you are on a bushwalk because when you move the branches the bugs fall off. The the fantail comes and eats them off the ground. It was the best walk ever.

Welcome to 2008!

Kia ora koutou

Welcome back to school. I hope you are all ready for some great learning. Over the next week I want you to visit this blog and leave me a comment just so I know that you can use it. Your comment doesn't need to be long - just a couple of sentences about yourself.

Don't forget:
KRSA swimming next Tuesday 26 February - we're leaving school at 8.30 so you need to be at school early that day! Remember your togs, towel, lunch, drink, and warm clothes. The cost is $4.50 per child.

School triathlon is on Friday 29 February - remember your sports gear, bike, and helmet. You also need covered shoes to ride your bike.

Also if you have any real feathers at home that you could bring to school that would be great for our bird study.

Have fun
